Kindness

Kindness,

ˈkʌɪn(d)nəs/
noun: kindness
  1. the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.

I consider myself a kind person.
This in no way means that I like everyone, to be really honest loads of people annoy me, and I believe that most people don't like every aspect of a person who they love.

When I say that I am a kind person, I mean that I would never go out of my way to hurt someone by saying something mean/hurtful to them, I also try to avoid gossiping as much as possible, everyone likes to gossip now and then, but talking to others about people behind their back constantly is something I absolutely hate, even if the people being talked about it aren't really aware of it.

Recently all these thoughts have been running through my mind an awful lot. Being in a fandom can be an amazing thing and I will never deny this. However, it can also bring lots of stuff that isn't fun at all. I've been in a fairly small fandom for quite a while now. Some nights I scroll through twitter and all I can see is people 'indirecting' each other once again. People bringing others down for doing something they enjoy. People mocking other people tweets, and talking about others behind their back. The saddest part is that often enough all this isn't about the fandom itself, not about the characters, the show or the band but about the fans personally.
It is so sad and completely ridiculous. You are all here because you enjoy the same thing.

I feel like being mean and bullying others without them actually knowing is the only pasttime of some groups of people. It gets me so angry, do you all have nothing else to do? Leave other people alone, are you really this sad that all you can do is talk about other people and bring them down constantly for doing something they enjoy.

It also always nice to see people posting on social media about being nice to others and that people deserve happiness and that you should never be the reason of someone's sadness when that's exactly what some of these hypocrites are doing!

I honestly love the idea of when you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything. Even when people aren't aware that others are talking about them, it still makes you such a nasty, pathetic and negative person.
I do have to point out that this is purely about people being pure nasty for no reason. If people have a (problematic) opinion that you don't agree with, don't hestitate to talk to them about it, but you can also do this in a fairly civil way.

This was very much about bullying and being horrible on social media, but of course this is also the case for real life, unfortunately there are people out there that get their little kicks from being nasty to others. It's something that I will never understand. Being nasty isn't 'cool or funny' in the slightest. Let other people be.

I am definitely not saying that I have never been unnecessarily mean to someone, especially when I was a lot younger I didn't always say kind things. But it is now something that I will avoid as much as possible and something that I am always aware of.

Have I really just written a whole rant about fandom life? I think I have

I was planning on writing a different post but then all of a sudden I felt angry again and thought now is the time to write this post. If you couldn't tell that I am bitter about loads of stuff I don't know what will! :')

If you got to the end of this post,,, thank you very much for reading, I hope it made you think! When I started this post I honestly had no clue where I wanted it to go, I just had to get some of my thoughts on paper!

I will just leave you with some nice quotes!

Trip to Bath • March 2017

As you can all tell by the title ( and the photo ) this post is kind of long overdue. It's been around two months since I went on this trip. It's only now that i am getting round to typing a blogpost ( as it is just now that I am slowly getting back into blogging again!

This trip was a study trip. We went for five days, we left on monday and got back late on friday. We stayed in a youth hostel in Bath. We also visited Cardiff but this was a flying visit, we just went to visit the National Assembly for Wales. That same day we also went to Bristol for some shopping and a play in the evening. Relating to the course I am doing, we visited a secondary school in Bath for a morning, and we were even allowed to join some lessons.

I had a great time! At first I was really nervous, and kind of wish I never signed up for the trip. I don't really know why, I always get a bit anxious for school trips. Fortunately I really enjoyed myself, and hung around a great group of people and I am very glad that I did go on the trip!

Here are some photos I took during the trip

A kind of given is of course that we visited the Roman Baths! The second picture I took in a souvenir shop, I thought the wall looked really cute so I couldn't resist taking a photo of it! Even though it was March, Costa still had the Christmas cups, they can't get rid of them!

I absolutely love taking photos of streets and roofs. Most of the photos that I took are photos of roofs, my classmates got used to it after a bit and joked about me taking another photo of a roof again.

This photo was taken in Cardiff.

A photo taken just after I got of the ship.

Thank you very much for reading, I hoped you liked the photos!

Where have I been? // Life update

A very long time no speak!
It's been so long that I honestly don't really know where to start, it's almost May!
(May!!! what?!?). Now I have more time on my hands I want to pick up blogging again, but I wasn't sure how so I decided to just start typing and see what will come of it. I guess this is a bit of an update.

University
These past few months I haven't been doing anything special but I have been very busy which is basically all because of uni. I just finished my third term at uni, and I was at uni three days a week and the other two days I was at my placement. During the first two terms I had a day off, which split my week a bit, and it didn't seem like I was rushed of my feet the whole time. So it took a bit of getting used to, to be out all week. I've been at my placement for almost six months, and to begin with I really disliked it, but from January onwards I started enjoying myself a lot more and liked it more than just normal classes! I am definitely going to miss my placement now!

My fourth and last uni term of this year starts next week. I have two days off which is absolutely bliss! That's why I am pretty sure that I will be blogging a lot more again!

What else have I been up to?
With loads of people from my course we went to Bath (Bristol & Cardiff) in March. I was kind of dreading it to start with, but in the end I had an amazing time! I took quite a few photos, and I think I will type up a different blogpost to share more photos of this trip!
I have a boring life, so I haven't really got anything else to mention. I spend half my life in my fandom, so that keeps me busy and happy enough :). I feel like in the small amount of posts I have put up, I have talked enough about this, so I am not going to pester you all with it again haha!

Like I said I hope to blog a lot more again. I really want to go back to (the very old) original plan of one post a week. I am also planning on starting a bullet journal, and I am very excited about this, and  I will probably do a blogpost on this!

I would also love to get into reading again, I can't really remember the last time I read a proper book and it makes me sad because I honestly love reading so much, getting lost in a book is such an amazing feeling, but I feel like I don't really have the patience anymore.

Found this post on tumblr, and I relate to this a lot!

I also really want to get into playing the keyboard again, I am not very good, but I can manage playing quite a few chords and this is also something I really enjoy, but don't do enough.

I also would love to go through this last term a lot more organized, I want to keep up with work so I won't have to do loads days before the deadline! Maybe my bullet journal will help with this, who knows?

Let's hope I actually end up doing all/some of the above, and don't spend my time in bed watching tv and just scrolling on my phone!?!

Thank you so much for reading this very random update post! Hopefully I will speak to you all soon again!

Lots of love,

Mary x

My 2017 Goals

If you have read my two most recent posts, you will know why this blogpost is quite late to the party. However, I did want to share with you some of my 2017 goals!

  • Read 50 books. Last year I wanted to read 70 books, I didn't hit this target, although I wasn't too far off, so this year I am hoping to be able to read 50 books. In the summer I always get through a lot of books, so in the summer most of the reading will be done.
  • Read at least one book a month. I kind of already failed this one already, as I am typing this at the end of January and I haven't read a book this month, but oh well. If  I want to read 50 books this year I'll definitely have to get my act together and at least get through one book a month!
  • Instagram. This might seem like a kind of superficial one, but I really want to post more photos on my instagram and have a nice feed. I always worry far too much about whether people think I post too much, or judge my photos for some reason, but it is my instagram and I can post whatever I want so hopefully my instagram will be a bit more alive this year! {if you want to follow me, my instagram is xmaryfrances_}
  • I want to stick to my posting schedule, which at the moment is once a week, and if I post a second post in a week that will mostly be on Wednesday.
  • Watch at least one documentary a month. I absolutely love documentaries, but I hardly ever watch them. That's why I am determined to watch loads this year.
  • Play on my keyboard a lot more. I love playing the keyboard, but again this is something I don't do enough. There are so many songs that I asbolutely adore and would love to be able to play on the keyboard.

These are some of my goals for 2017

What goals would you like to achieve this year?

Love,

Mary x

15 Favourite Things of 2016

Here is my the first of my long overdue 2016 round up posts, oops!

This year has been a weird one. I definitely can't say this has been a very good year, and I believe I am not the only one saying this. Many bad things happended this year which can be considered bad for loads of people (Brexit, Trump and deaths of many icons..But also for me personally I wouldn't consider 2016 to have been an amazing year.

There are, however, a few 'things' that I really enjoyed this year. Things meaning music, books, tv shows etc.
I have discovered and loved so many songs, some that have such special meanings. If I had to mention every song that I have been loving this year I would still be here in 3 months, so I will only mention the albums that I have been loving a lot.

My goal regarding reading, was to read 70 books, I didn't meet this target but I still enjoyed quite a few books and some of them I will be including in this post.

So let's get into 15 favourites of 2016, (obviously I wanted to think of 16 things for 2016, but I just couldn't think of 16 things, just my luck,) in no particular order might I point out.

1. Rimmel Kate Lipstick no. 48. This year I have been a lot less interested in make-up than I have been in previous years. I still enjoy putting on make-up quite a lot, I (mostly) don't see it as a chore or anything. But I don't tend to spend most of my money on make-up anymore. However this lipstick  has definitely my favourite make-up item this year and my favourite lipstick, it's a browny toned lipstick. I would definitely consider this one of my favourite if not favourite lipstick ever. I've also gotten quite a few compliments on it which is always nice!

2. We were liars by E Lockheart. This might be my favourite book that I've read in 2016. This was such a page-turner with a shocking twist! If you want to read this book I recommend you go into it knowing hardly anything about it!

3. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. This was another one of my favourite books. I read it in the summer and I remember not being able to put it down. I would definitely recommend this book especially when you are a fangirl/boy yourself, there is some recognisable stuff in there!

4. Hollyoaks. I have now been watching this show for a little over a year and It a lot ( not as much as emmerdale, see number 5, which I haven't been watching as long) That's why I almost feel a little disloyal to Hollyoaks, because it has been replaced as my favourite soap, but I still watch it and enjoy it a lot!

5. Emmerdale. I have already talked quite a lot about emmerdale on my blog! If these favourite would have been in particular order this would have definitely been number one!
For some people it might be a soap, but it has changed my life, I met some great people through this show, it is amazing to be able to freak out, and talk about something that you love, with people who feel exactly the same. In the weekends I always slightly lost, because there is no emmerdale on, ( yes I know I am really in quite deep).

6. Glory Days - Little Mix. I have a feeling that I've already talked about Little Mix on my blog, but if you didn't know I absolutely love these girls! When I heard snippets of some of the songs on this album I wasn't sure whether I was going to like, but how wrong I was! I honestly find this their best album yet, it is full of proper bops! I love all of the songs on this album but a few of my absolute favourites are; power, no more sad songs and private show!

7. Back from the Edge - James Arthur. I honestly have no words for this album. It is an absolute masterpiece, and I don't think I will ever get sick of any of the songs on here, at least I hope so. I you haven't listened to it yet, you are missing out! All the songs on this album are so beautiful. All I want now is to see James and this masterpiece live!

8. Blurryface - Twenty One Pilots. Before 2016 I had heard of Twenty One Pilots but had never listened to any of their music. I can't remember why I started listening to their stuff, but I am very happy about it! I love their music so much, and many songs are so relatable. I went to see them in concert last November and I absolutely loved it

9. Downton Abbey. I had to include this show in this post, even though I have a confession to make here; I haven't actually finished this show?! When it first started I didn't watch it, I was 12 so maybe I wasn't too interested in it at the time, and as I got older I felt like I missed too much to just start watching it. My mum got the boxset for Christmas last year and I started watching it when I finished my exams in May, as I figured that I had loads of time but I still didn't get round to completely finishing it, and now I am so busy with university that I have again 'stopped' continuing. I feel like I should really finish it soon though, before I am completely out of it. I did include it because I absolutely loved watching it in the summer very late at night, and with a boxset you don't have to wait a week, you can just watch the boxsets back to back which is amazing!

10. Skam. I feel like I am cheating with this one. I haven't even finished all the seasons yet ( what is it with me not finishing things) and I only started watching it in November. I started watching season 3 because it was all over the internet after I finished season 3 I started season 1, which I loved more than season 3 to be honest. Now I am on season 2 but I haven't watched it in a while so I should soon continue watching it!

11. Room - Emma Donoghue. I loved this book a lot, and I am very happy about it having a happy ending. After I finished the book I also watched the film, and I also enjoyed that a lot. If you have never heard about this book/film, I'd definitely recommend you look into it. It is very sad but like I said, it has a happy ending.

12. Tsums Tsums. Pretty random, but I love tsums tsums a lot, so why not include them in this post. I started collecting them in 2015, I only bought two that year, and I wasn't sure at the time if I really wanted to collect them, but then in the summer I bought quite a few and built up a collection, so hopefully I'll add quite a few more to my collection in 2017!

13. Love is the Law - Charlene Soraia. It was only fair to put this album in here! Even though I don't really listen to the songs on this album at the moment, I did do so around April/May time and there are some really good songs on there.

14. Gold Magic - Little Mix. This perfume is my go to perfume, I absolutely love the smell, and I have been wearing it a lot this year!

15. Ted Baker. Last Christmas I got two Ted Baker giftset with mini perfumes in it, I have been using and loving these a lot this past year!

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!

What were some of  your 2016 favourites?

Love,

Life Update!

Long time no speak!

I honestly can't believe that is my first post of 2017. I guess I do have a reasonable valid excuse but still, I am quite disappointed with myself that I've already been slacking with my uploading schedule.

I am not sure if this is socially acceptable but I am still going to wish my readers a happy new year!

So where have I been? Not anywhere special and I have no extraordinary excuse, life just happened.
I had been working on a round-up blogpost that I was planning on posting that around the 30/31 December. I didn't get round to finishing it, as I fell ill, (nothing serious just a massively annoying cold) around New Years Eve. It is a good thing that I don't normally do anything special on NYE, so I didn't miss out on anything. I spent the last few days of 2016 in bed, which in a way was also quite nice!

When I got back home, from my family's where I spent Christmas and NYE, it was time for me to revise for my exams which were last week, and I didn't get round to working on my blog and I didn't want to type up a rushed blogpost just for the sake of it. But having now finished my exams I want to get back into the swing of things and because I was gone for a little while I decided to post this update first.

I do  still want to post my end of year post, also because it is something that I can look back on. I will probably even post two 2016 round up posts, as I was planning on doing a post on my favourite things and favourite moments of 2016.

That is all for now, this post was very chatty! I hope I am going to be able to post at least a blogpost a week, we will see!

Thank you very much for reading!

Love,

xoxo

Christmas Build Up Through The Lens

It is almost Christmas! The day that I am typing and posting this it is Christmas Eve. I have to be honest, I don't feel Christmassy at all, I can't really believe it is Christmas tomorrow!. This might be due to the fact that the Christmas holidays started so late this year and that I haven't had much of a Chrismassy build up to the 25th. Still, I am fairly excited about it being Christmas tomorrow and seeing people opening their presents and having nice food!

I didn't post nearly as much as I wanted to post this month, but because I have taken a few Christmassy photos these past 2 weeks I thought I would just share these on my blog!

// My gingerbread men phonecase is perfect for this time of year!// I bought these really cute mini stockings for decoration.// Here is a corner of my room that I like to call my Christmas corner!//

//Another christmassy shot of my room, I really like this part of my room, and this was the first year that I could decorate this part because I only got those shelves this year!// A shot of some chocolate can't not be included!// A cute shot of my tsum tsum collection surrounded by some Christmas lights.//

// I really like coffee and Starbucks but I don't buy Starbucks that often so it is quite special that I got two coffees from there in one week!// A shot of some Christmas lights in town.//

I also went iceskating twice this week after not having done that for years. I was pleasantly surprised that I could still iceskate! I didn't take my phone onto the ice, so I couldn't take any photos.

Thank you very much for reading!

I hope you all have a very happy Christmas if you celebrate it!

Love,

xoxo
